The Brewers Association of Australia & New Zealand Inc is the association for manufacturing brewers in both Australia and New Zealand.
Formed in 1967 in Australia, the Brewers Association has a proud history of contributing to public debate across a variety of issues including taxation, advertising and alcohol education.
In our 40th anniversary year, we became a trans-Tasman association and now have representation in both capitals – Canberra and Wellington.
As well as responding to contemporary public policy reviews or inquires, the Brewers Association also:
Manages the regulation of alcohol advertising in Australia, through The ABAC Scheme.
Actively support schools based education through Rethinking Drinking. Australia’s brewers funded the development of classroom materials based on harm minimisation and recently trialled Alcohol Information Nights for students and parents. The Brewers Association also has an honorary Medical Advisor to keep us up to date on developments in medical and epidemiological research in the area of alcohol and health. Our current Medical Advisor – Professor Ross McCormick - is based in Auckland.
Industry GroupingsThe Brewers Association provides secretariat services to the National Alcohol Beverage Industries Council (NABIC), a grouping of six major Australian alcohol associations. Internationally, the Association is an active member of the Worldwide Brewing Alliance, comprising member-based brewing associations from Australasia, Asia, Europe, North America and South America. |
